Magical History Tour

Yesterday was a 2 pm finish to rehearsal so Tom took Larry and me on a tour of some historic downtown Sydney buildings with a special focus on the Hyde Park Convict Barracks and Famine Memorial.

To have the privilege of visiting this museum with history and details told by Tom is a unique experience indeed. The past becomes the present.

...although, perhaps, his own favorite anecdote is that of his grandson Gus spinning all of the hammocks into a twist during a visit.  Seems the museum staff found that memorable, too.

We also toured the stunning vestibule of the Public Library, passed Parliament and the Mint and finished with a drink in the lounge of the InterContinental Hotel, originally the 1851 Treasury Building.

Great fun to amble with Tom and watch passers-by faces light up with recognition and respect.

  1. sorry, all. iPad and Blogger are not compatible for links and photos. There may be a way around it but I have quite figured it out yet.
